Oil
70 x 80cm
Born in Neasdon, in 1932, Ken studied at the Royal College of Art and, after being made a member of the New English Art Club, a member of the Royal Institute of Oil Painters, a member of The Royal Society of Painters in Watercolours and an Hon. Member of the Royal Society of British Artists, he became a member of the Royal Academy in 1992 and President of the New English Art Club in 1998. He is known as one of the most accomplished figurative artists of his generation and in particular for his ability to capture light - whether in Cornwall, Venice or in London- by using muted greys with passages of bright colour. He has written several books on painting technique. His favourite quote is an unlikely one by Sickhert - “never forget that, as an artist, it is the space on someone else’s sitting room wall that matters.” Ken’s paintings are represented by The Portland Gallery. He is a Vice-Patron of Art for Youth London.
