Beatrice Dina, "The Arch", acrylics, oil, pastels on waxed canvas, 130 x 170cm, c. 2022. The arch (il portico) in my hometown Modena, Italy, represents the welcome, being together, walking side by side under any weather. Its the extension of a private home on the public road, a communal space where one feels protected, yet exposed to the unknown. The arch I depicted on this waxed canvas is my interpretation of a spiritual portal, an inner bridge where interconnectedness can thrive through tolerance for all the colors of the spectrum, a safe space where different faiths and atheism, ancient cultures, and conflictual histories can elevate one another to a higher consciousness, rather than be perceived as threats to our core identities. The arch is an emotional landscape where inner and external walls can disappear, letting our complex individualities mix in a mosaic of endless possibilities. Born in Modena, Italy Lives & works in London, UK Beatrice Dina's work explores themes of cross-cultural identity, migration, spirituality, and the fragility of human existence. Her vivid paintings merge at times lyrical abstraction with subtle representation, as the intent of her color-charged canvases is to connect with our deepest emotions and fears. Dina began her career in advertising as an art director, moving then to film production. Her diverse body of work includes documentary films, drawings, paintings, and sculptures. Located in the UK, UK shipping 100.
